Why Do Cushion-cut Diamonds And Asscher-cut Diamonds Cost Less Than The Comparable Quality In A Round-cut ?

When I look at stones with the same cut, color, clarity, carat size, cushion cuts and asscher cuts are less expensive than the round cut diamonds. What is the reason for the price difference? Thanks.

  1. Round Brilliant Diamond have the priority market when it comes to pricing. This is due to deBeers control of the market. It is also the most labor-intense to cut.
    Other cuts such as Ascher, and Cushions, are less labor intense and although very pretty, globally, they are not near as popular.

  2. they’re not as faceted as round cut, which means there are less surfaces for the light to reflect off of, making the round cut diamond much shinier than the cushion and asscher cuts.

  3. who cares, they sparkle and look pretty on my ears, fingers, around my neck…they are diamonds baby-who cares about princess cut, miners cut or pear shape in a pave` setting….diamonds baby!!! Diamonds!!!
