GIA diamonds vs EGL
We only sell Gemological Institute of America (GIA) certified diamonds because the GIA is considered the most recognized, consistent, and accurate of all grading labs. The finest diamonds are sent to the GIA for certification as this certification will yield the most accurate grading of a diamond providing fair market value for the stone.
Why would a diamond seller seek a non-GIA certificate for his or her diamonds?
A non-GIA lab is less stringent than GIA. The result is consistently higher diamond ratings, which often translates into an inflated price tag for a diamond. We have sold diamonds for over 98 years and our customers come back to us time and time again because we provide the highest value at a fair price. By only selling GIA certified diamonds, we know we are providing our customers with an accurately graded diamond that will hold up against any of the other grading labs.
WIth non GIA certified diamonds, the buyer often suffers. The buyer is being fooled into thinking he is getting a higher quality diamond than he actually is. We have seen diamonds graded by the GIA and by another lab come out with vastly different ratings–the non-GIA lab grades are often two grades higher! The only exception to this is the American Gem Society, which we are also a member. We find that our customers prefer, without exception, a certificate from the GIA because it is by far the most recognized and trusted lab.
Practically every fine diamond sold by reputable establishments has documentation from the GIA.
One final thought is to remember a GIA ceritifcate actually aids in preserving the value of your diamond and investment. The value of a diamond is always higher with a GIA certificate as it can be considered an accurate grading of the actual stone.
