Are Black Diamonds As Valuable As Regular Diamonds?

I’ve thought about getting my boyfriend a black diamond ring or bracelet, but I’ve really only seen these gems on shopping websites and I don’t know if they are rated the same way regular diamonds are. What should I look for or should I just invest in a regular diamond ring?

  1. Jared’s answer is almost correct. Natural black diamonds are rare and can be quite costly. The black diamonds that flood the diamond market are usually irridated meaning they have been treated to enhance the color, and these are the ones which are not as costly. If they are looked at closely they are actually a very dark green color. Men’s black diamond jewelry is catching on in popularity.
Onyx is a totally different mineral altogether and should not be confused with a black diamond.

  2. THERE ARE BLACK DIAMONDS???
Sorry that probably didn’t help. I would think that regular diamonds would be more valuable because it took a lot to gte the three C’s ((color, cut, clarity) naturally.

  3. blac diamonds are alled onyx and it depends of the way they are cut and the weight compared

  4. Black Diamonds are less valuable than regular ones….no question they are more common and they just arent expensive at all….

  5. From what I have read I would not recommend investing in a black diamond ring. Among most gemologist these are still considered an inferior diamond and the least desirable of the colored varieties. Diamond are valued according to the 4 c’s, carat, cut, clarity, and color.

  6. black diamonds are not as valuable as regular diamonds, nor are they rated the same as regular diamonds, but depending on carat and cut, can be comparable in price to low quality diamond gem stones. the average price of a loose 2ct black diamond is around $350, about what you might expect to pay for a cubic zirconium. they do look cool and for a man’s ring i would think a big stone in either a platinum or gold ringset would probably look very nice.
